Black Woman Lead
"It is our mission to be a conduit for and to amplify Black women_s voices. We support and advocate for Black female leadership while giving back to the Black community based on the diverse needs of Black women. k Women Lead formed the first week of June, 2020 as a response to the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of police. For many of us with a history of activism, 2020 has truly been a call to action. Within this period of awareness for Black lives and on Black oppression it is imperative that we use this energy to spark new work for changes to the system and for the betterment of the disadvantaged. Who better to be leading that than the most oppressed and marginalized people within this country? Black women have been leading all along but have been forced to the sidelines at every point in history. BWL aims to focus the issues that affect Black women disproportionately, through the lens of a Black woman_s view. To give support to the Black woman, to give the mic to the Black woman, to give power to the Black woman. goal is to provide as many services to as many organizations as possible while continuing to form our own programs with a focus on Black women, Black trans women and Black youth. We aspire to amplify Black women_s voices in every aspect of our work. From our events, to our live online town halls, to our social media presence and content creation, we lead with an agenda for providing a space for Black women to express themselves and take action."
